Your Sister's Side

Surely there’s no finer man

From Jersey’s shore to Ireland

So dear brother on this your day

When love has promised you to stay

Keep her safe keep her warm

Be her shelter in any storm

Hold her long and hold her tight

And don’t forget “SHE’S ALWAYS RIGHT!”

I use to giggle at your charm

Much like the girl, now on your arm

Well-played “Little Duke”… I lift my glass

To you, to her, and our childhood past

I wonder if you remember when

I was 9…or maybe 10

You would yell from across the street

To scare some boy I hoped to meet

Or when you pushed me off that balcony

And still you say …”It wasn’t me!”

You knew the words to every song

And God forbid you were ever wrong

But faithfully with me you shared

Your time, your friends, … how much you cared

And even when you made me cry

You never left your sister’s side

From the start and through the years

The laughter wiped away the tears

You are my brother …and my best friend

And so you’ll be …until the end

But there’s something Duke

That you should know

I’m kind of glad you have to go

Cause every time I cross the street

I now can smile … at every boy I meet

TOAST

“Everyone! Please join me in a toast to my Brother and new Sister-in-Law,

Mr. and Mrs. Duke Leffler …

May your love be as strong
as your family.
May all your friends forever see
That all along you were meant to be
side by side…through eternity.

Cheers!

“Bobby wrote a poem for me to read as a toast at my brother’s wedding. I gave him some background information and threw in a few ideas of my own and he just put it together! The poem was sweet, funny and touching all at the same time! Everyone at the wedding was in tears when they heard it; including my brother. Bobby’s style, wit, sentiment and charm made the toast, as well as the day, into something truly special and memorable. Thank you Bobby! I’m telling all my friends about you and I promise I’ll be back for more!”Chelsea Livingston, Long Island, NY.

“Your Sister’s Side” is a poem I was commissioned to write for a young woman who really wanted to say something special as a “toast”/ tribute to her brother on his wedding day. Her and her brother were very close and she, more than anything, just wanted to give her brother something that was unique, special, and could express how much she loved him as her brother. She gave me their background; I asked some questions; we made a few changes after the 1st and 2nd drafts until the final draft was complete.
