Valentines for Fools
Poem

When walking with a fragile heart
just looking for a friend
Lips to kiss a hand to hold
Forever till the end
Holding on to memories
Shining broken glass
Do we see the future
Or do we see the past
Sometimes it’s just a question
One must ask oneself
Is love another story
Another book upon the shelf
Faith around the corner
Like candy you can steal
Like a story from a movie
Maybe fiction maybe real
Does love become a whisper
spoken softly in the mind
A song you sing to angels
If lucky you can find
Love is like a river
Finding where it needs to run
It cuts a path from high above
From where it first begun
It searches for the ocean
From the mountains naturally
Like the river that is you
Has found its way to me
Your words at times compassion
At times confuse my heart
But I know there’s always love
It’s been there from the start
Like a favorite pair of blue-jeans
Look better when they’re worn
I wear your smiles around me
Even better when they’re torn
It’s like we have a secret
That only you and I can know
There’s magic in the broken glass
In colors that they show
Through the laughter through the pain
Skies of thunder skies of blue
When you see a rainbow
Know that’s how I see you
Broken glass becomes the mirror
And I wonder if you see
I wonder if you really know
What you truly mean to me
I sing for life I sing for love
It’s all that I can do
Valentines can be for fools
But not for me or you
